The Health Care Compliance Association will host its annual Midwest Regional Conference on September 26 in Overland Park, Kan. The firm will once again be a proud sponsor of the event, which will include panel presentations on substantive issues within the field of health care law and management.  Member Andy Ramirez (Healthcare - Overland Park) serves as program chair for the HCCA Midwest region, and arranged the speakers and spearheaded the organization of the event.  He will also be speaking at various junctures of the program, before different breakout sessions.

Member Martie Ross (Healthcare - Overland Park) will lead the session, "Benchmarking your Compliance Program," which will include an overview of government expectations and shortcomings of commonly used measures for compliance program effectiveness. Member Jeff Ellis (Healthcare - Overland Park) will moderate "Effective Hospital Governance: The Compliance Officer's Role." The two panelists from that session will be Jeffrey Novorr, MHA, Corporate Compliance & Privacy Officer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and Joannah M. Applequist, Corporate Compliance Officer and In-House Counsel at Hays Medical Center. And Member Donn Herring (Healthcare - Clayton) will deliver "OIG Advisory Opinions: A Source of Meaningful Answers to Meaningless Questions." His presentation will consider the utility of the OIG Advisory Opinion process for members of the health care industry.
