Experience
Andrew Ramirez is a member of the Executive Committee of Lathrop & Gage L.C. He practices in the firm's Health Care Department, concentrating on the representation of community-based hospitals. He is a frequent speaker and author on topics concerning health care policy and hospital management. He enjoys an outstanding reputation among his peers who have named him one of The Best Lawyers in America® in the specialty of health care law. He has the highest AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell®.
In recent years, Mr. Ramirez has spent the bulk of his time assisting regional and national health care associations and the members of those associations with a broad range of issues. He has considerable expertise and experience consulting on a variety of medical staff and corporate compliance issues. His practice has included representing governmental and privately owned health care providers for a wide variety of matters including health care and general corporate law, employee relations, government/regulatory compliance, and a full range of legal concerns faced by the health care industry.
Prior to joining Lathrop & Gage, Mr. Ramirez practiced law in Douglas County, Kansas where in addition to his successful private practice he served as Assistant County Counselor. He routinely advised the county on a broad range of legal matters and successfully represented the county in litigation.
His public service includes six years on the Douglas County Planning Commission, which he chaired in his second year of service. He was also a Judge pro tempore for the Municipal and Seventh Judicial District Court, and Adjunct Professor to the University of Kansas Law School. In 1989, the Kansas Governor appointed him to the Kansas Civil Rights Commission, which he chaired in his second year. He is currently one of the longest serving members of the Kansas Supreme Court Board of Discipline, the body responsible for advising the court on the ethics and licensure of members of the Bar.
